Information about the data centers we use for our services
dataforest operates infrastructure in three state-of-the-art data centers in and around Frankfurt am Main. This strategic distribution allows us to achieve maximum failover security, geographic redundancy, and optimal performance for all business-critical applications.
With our multi-datacenter concept, we offer you the flexibility to choose the location best suited to your requirements. All our data centers meet the highest standards in terms of security, energy efficiency, and reliability. From maincubes to Interxion to firstcolo – our carefully selected partners ensure an optimal infrastructure for hosting.
Particularly important to us is operation according to German standards for data protection and operational security – all locations are GDPR-compliant and operated with 100% green electricity.
As one of the world's largest data center operators, Interxion – now Digital Realty – has been an integral part of the hosting industry for decades. In Frankfurt alone, Digital Realty operates 25 data centers that meet the highest requirements for security, redundancy, and certifications. Due to the enormous density of network operators, carriers, and Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), a Point of Presence (PoP) on the Interxion campus is crucial for both the quality and capacity of our network. On the Interxion campus, we operate the majority of our edge routing as well as our DDoS Protection with a capacity of several terabits, bandwidth-intensive servers (40G/100G/400G), and customer racks for special requirements. The PoP is connected to our other locations via our own redundant fiber optic routes.
We have been using our main location, maincubes FRA01, since May 2020. With maincubes, we chose a young, sustainable, and carrier-neutral data center just beyond the city limits of Frankfurt am Main, which was planned as a data center in 2017 and went into operation in 2018.
There are many hosting providers out there – so why should you work with dataforest? It's simple: We offer our hosting services exactly as we would want them for ourselves.
Thanks to modern Kyoto cooling and sophisticated construction, the PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) is below 1.3. For you, this means cost-efficient and environmentally friendly operation - with 100% green electricity from renewable energy sources.
We are redundantly connected to the internet through multiple independent carriers and engage in open peering. We operate our own routing (AS58212) within a highly available network structure. There is a dedicated uplink to Deutsche Telekom (DTAG).
While many data centers are located in existing buildings, maincubes was built and designed from the ground up as a data center. Access is secured in multiple stages, including vein scanners in each turnstile, which, unlike fingerprint scanners, are considered tamper-proof.
A multi-level security system protects your data. And: You benefit from the clear advantages of a data center in Germany, such as operation according to German standards for data protection and operational security, as well as GDPR compliance.
Design and functionality perfected: The idea of a forward-looking environment for IT infrastructures has inspired engineers and excited professionals. The Frankfurt Datacenter was awarded the German Data Center Prize for visionary data center architecture.
To offer our customers more options and location redundancy, we leased connected data center space at firstcolo at the end of 2024. The data center located in Frankfurt is redundantly connected to our own edge routing via multiple fiber optic routes and is thus completely independent of the operator's network operation. The dataforest racks at firstcolo are used for our dedicated servers as well as for colocation and are maintained by our own staff, allowing us to appear completely self-sufficient at this location and provide all services ourselves, including core routing (Juniper MX) and core switching (Arista).
We use 100% green electricity from renewable sources to operate our data centers. Our energy provider, mainova AG, ensures that our energy consumption is covered by TÜV-certified green electricity.
Our data centers in Frankfurt are certified according to ISO/IEC 27001:2013. This guarantees the continuous compliance and development of our Information Security Management System (ISMS) and covers all relevant processes as well as interfaces to customers and suppliers.
With the ISO 9001:2015 certification, we demonstrate that we maintain an efficient quality management system. This standard confirms that our operational processes are clearly defined and continuously adapted to customer needs.
Our data centers are certified as "TÜV-certified Data Center Level 3". This means they are highly available (24/7) and meet strict requirements for data protection, IT baseline protection, and operational management.
The PCI-DSS certification guarantees that our infrastructure meets the highest security standards for processing and storing credit card data to prevent fraudulent attacks and misuse.
